Phone Tips

The employee answering your telephone is the "Manager of First Impressions" for your daycare or company.

Here are some tips to enhance the caller's phone experience:

  1. Put a smile on your face first. It will enhance your vocal quality and make you sound more pleasant and relaxed
  2. Listen attentively to the person you are speaking with. Multi tasking is the enemy of effective listening
  3. Let other people talk! Make sure the caller has completely finished talking before responding.
  4. Use open ended questions to get people to speak more freely. It typically makes people feel more comfortably, especially if they are asked to make a decision.
  5. Match the speed of your speaking voice with theirs.
  6. Phrasing your words positively, rather than negatively or neutrally, will help you get better results more easily.
